What do I write about and how much should I write?
Open Competition:
Entries are accepted in any form of creative writing. Subject matter is limited only by your imagination. Adult entries should be limited to 2000 words. You may submit as many entries as you like, but each entry must have a title and be attached to a separate entry form.
Junior Competition:
Entries are accepted in any form of creative writing. Subject matter is only limited by your imagination. Our judges will judge entries based on imagination, structure and language, imagery, description, narrative power, vocabulary and reader appeal – in fact, anything and everything, including illustrations, that goes into telling a good story.
Student entries limited to 1000 words (Years 1-6), 1200 words (Years 7-10) and 1500 words (Years 11-12)
The first draft for entries in Years 1 - 6 MUST be included. Entries without a draft will not be accepted and judged.
Students may submit a maximum of two (2) entries via their school / teacher. Each entry MUST have a title and be attached to a separate entry form that is filled out correctly. Originality is encouraged, therefore teachers are urged to limit their input into proofreading.
Entrants should understand that judges will place most emphasis on literary quality when selecting winners.
What should I write on?
